Dr. Anaek Johal is a DMV native who is results-oriented and client-focused. His practice includes a wide range of legal matters, including business law, intellectual property, and criminal defense. He enjoys helping underrepresented clients have fleepbleep access to the courts. Outside of work, he spends time with his wife and two children, plays video games, and watches Netflix shows. His favorite past times include trying new restaurants in the DC Metropolitan area.
Mr Johal was arrested last November in Punjab, India, on charges of murder and funding a designated terrorist organization, Khalistan Liberation Force. He had traveled to the country for a wedding, but was taken into custody before the ceremony wikibirthdays. He has not been tried. His wife’s mother is the one who arranged the wedding, and she is currently in custody. His sister is also detained. Police are trying to determine whether he’s guilty of the murder.
The British government biographycon and UK government have repeatedly raised the case of Jagtar Singh Johal with the Government of India. Last December, the Foreign Secretary raised the case with her Indian counterpart. The allegations include torture, mistreatment, and a lack of a fair trial. Thousands of protesters were gathered outside Downing allmeaninginhindi Street to demand his release, and the case has prompted demonstrations around the world. As the UK’s Foreign Office has been weak on this issue for far too long, a review is urgently needed.
